Independent Quality Assurance Program for
Porter Davis

BSS carries out independent quality inspections for various companies under the umbrella of Porter Davis. The objective of their Quality Assurance Program is to maintain an already high standard of construction and to constantly improve upon this.

Details of BSS Inspections and Reporting
BSS inspects (excluding in-roof areas) all Porter Davis homes at three stages - Pre-plaster stage, Pre-paint stage and Completion stage. At the Pre-plaster stage, we inspect the frame primarily for straightness but we also look at other critical aspects. At the Pre-paint stage, wall plaster is fixed, most or all fixings (doors, architraves, skirtings etc.) have been completed and the house is ready for painting (hence the stage name). At this stage BSS is primarily interested in the quality of plastering including wall and ceiling alignment, fixing of doors and windows, fixing of wall sheeting in wet areas and, externally, quality of brickwork, roofing, windows, doors etc.

At the Completion stage, the home to be inspected is ready for occupation or close thereto. Here any matters annotated in the previous inspection are re-inspected to check that they have been attended, and then matters applicable to the Completion stage including wall, ceiling and joinery painting, floor finishes, wet area tiling, cupboard joinery and similar internal finishes items are inspected and reported upon. Externally, services, roof drainage, any paving or fencing, site cleanliness, taps and external painting are inspected and reported upon, if necessary, for any final rectification.

Reporting by Others
Of course, BSS reporting at Pre-plaster, Pre-paint and Completion stages is not the only inspection and documenting process used by Porter Davis in the delivery of their houses - the mandatory inspections by the relevant Building Surveyor occur as a matter of course (Foundations, Pre (concrete slab) pour, Frame, and for Occupancy Permit etc.) as well as periodic inspections by Porter Davis Supervisors during the whole construction process. In addition others such as the licensed trades (eg plumbers) are required to certify that their work complies with relevant standards.

Quality Assurance
Porter Davis is a multi-award winning builder showing a strong commitment to maintaining and improving quality in its homes - BSS is proud to be associated with this objective. Porter Davis is committed to rectification of matters noted in BSS reports for attention as part of their Quality Assurance Program. The BSS reinspection at the Completion stage of any previously listed items at the Pre-paint stage is part of this Program. The completion of any matters picked up at the Completion stage is the job of the relevant Porter Davis supervisor who is responsible for final attendance to listed items and completion of the work for handover. BSS however also re-inspects items noted at the Completion inspection, where necessary.
